Toddlers @ WBC

It does seem a very long time...

since we've had our two rooms packed with children and their grown ups! We really miss you, but sadly we have to be guided by government advice designed to keep us all healthy.

Some exciting news!

Suzie Willers     We have a new member of staff! Suzie Willers, who most of you will know from her many years as a Toddler mum, is now working for WBC part time as Community Outreach Coordinator, and part of her role is to look after our Toddlers group. So do get in touch with Suzie if you and your little one(s) could do with our  support (her working days are Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, term time only). Suzie is looking at what we can offer in terms of toddler meet ups within government guidelines, so watch this space - or join our Toddlers Facebook group where sessions are advertised when we're allowed to hold them.

A little bit of Toddlers online

During Lockdown we recorded some of our favourite stories and songs for you to enjoy with your little ones at home:

The Lost Coin (Songs with Heather and the boys: Our God is a great big God; Can you play at peekaboo? Tommy Thumb where are you? 5 Hot cross buns in a baker's shop)

Jesus and the storm (With Jesus in the boat; Row row row your boat; Wash your dirty hands; If you're happy and you know it)

A farmer went out to sow seeds (If I were a butterfly; Dingle dangle scarecrow; There's a tiny caterpillar on a leaf; The tractor song)

The wise and foolish builders (Songs with Kathy: The wise man built his house; The sun has got his hat on; Humpty Dumpty; The Toddlers bash and bang band)

The narrow gate (Alice the camel; I will bend down and touch my knees; I hear thunder; The wheels on the bus)

Noah and the rainbow (The animals went in two by two; Old MacDonald; Incy wincy spider; The rainbow song)

Jonah and the big fish (If I go a-climbing; 12345 once I caught a fish alive; Head shoulders knees and toes; 5 little ducks went swimming one day)

The lost sheep (He's got the whole world in His hands; Baa baa black sheep; Little Bo Peep; A bear went over the mountain)

Daniel and the lions (Father You are King of heaven; A leopard has lots of spots; Down in the jungle; Sleeping bunnies/lions)

Heather and the boys look at caterpillars in our garden and take you for a second visit to their allotment (There's a tiny caterpillar on a leaf)

God's very good idea

In July we made a very special video - together with lots of Toddlers families who sent in clips.

Even when we can't get together, you are part of our big family! We love you, we're praying for you, and want you to know that you are one of the best things God made - you are his very good idea!

Planning your Visit

A Warm Hello

The following information is specifically for those planning a visit, so that you know, beforehand, what to expect on a Sunday morning.

Where and When

We meet at the Church Building (details below) for our Sunday Service starting at 10.30am. For your first visit, we recommend arriving 10-15 minutes early to ensure you get a parking space and find somewhere to sit before the service begins. When you arrive, you should be greeted by someone on our Welcome Team.

Plan your journey:

Open Google Maps

Accessibility: There is wheelchair access, and a sound loop for anyone who needs it. Please let one of the Welcome Team know on your arrival and they will help you to get set up. There is a disabled toilet in the main foyer.

Our Service

The main service begins at 10.30am with a warm welcome from our Pastor or another member of our team. Then we have a time of sung worship, led by musicians. Sometimes a person might pray out loud or read a small passage from the Bible. Sometimes people share things that they believe God is saying to the whole church family. This might seem strange the first time you hear it but it’s all part of our connecting with God. One of our leaders will then give a sermon that is Bible based and that we can apply to our everyday life. We then finish with a final worship song.

What about my kids?

[this whole section would need altering for Covid 19 way of doing things]
We have a great programme lined up for kids of all ages:

  • Creche (0 months to 3 years). Children under 6 months are welcome but must be accompanied by their grown-up at all times.
  • Splashgang (school years R-2)
  • Supergang (school years 3-6)
  • Young people (school year 6+)

Children stay with their grown-ups at the start of the service for the welcome, songs and notices. We really value worshipping God all together as a family. Someone will announce that it’s time for the younger members to go to their various groups.

The kids group activities vary depending on the age but usually there is a friendly welcome, Bible stories, praying, music, craft, fun games and free play. Please pick your children up as soon as the service finishes.

Getting Connected

Life Groups

While Sundays are a great way to meet new people, it is often in smaller gatherings that you can really get to know someone. Being part of one of our life groups allows you to make new friends, share together and support each other. We have a variety of groups that meet throughout the week, some afternoons and some evenings. Check out our Life Groups page and contact us. We can put you in touch with a life group leader who will be more than happy to invite you along to their group.

Other Ministries

We also run/support the following ministries:
