God's will for Brexit

Dear all,

In the turmoil of our political crisis what does God want of us? I think 1 Timothy chapter 2 v 1-3 is the answer and it begins with the call to PRAY. Do remember we have a prayer room at church and wouldn’t it be great if today, as decisions will be made that will affect us all, that a number of us bumped into each other in the prayer room and prayed with each other there. So do come on down.

‘First of all, I ask you to pray for everyone. Ask God to help and bless them all, and tell God how thankful you are for each of them. 2 Pray for kings and others in power, so that we may live quiet and peaceful lives as we worship and honour God. 3 This kind of prayer is good, and it pleases God our Saviour. 4 God wants everyone to be saved. ‘
1 Timothy 2v1-3

  1. Pray for everyone! So just pray for people today. Your family, friends and colleagues. Pray for those making new starts this week in school, education or work. Pray for the people you agree with and those you don’t and give thanks for them. Today pray for all those on each side of the debate and all those effected or anxious about the uncertainty of the future. Pray for peace. Bless them (as we believe blessing comes not from politics but from the Lord) in prayer as you pray for their

Body – health & strength
Labour – work, reward, security
Emotional -joy, peace, hope
Social – love, marriage, family, friends
Spiritual – salvation, faith, grace

  1. Pray for those with authority. Pray for Boris Johnson and Jeremy Corbyn and the whole of Parliament. Pray for the European Union and leaders. Give thanks for them and pray for quiet and peaceful discussions and resolutions today and pray that decisions will be made that will lead to quiet and peaceful living for all.
  2. Pray for salvation. God is most interested in people being saved and so pray for our leaders that they may come to know Jesus. Pray for our family and friends to come to know Jesus. Pray that whatever decisions are made today and in the coming weeks that ultimately they will lead not to just more prosperity or ease for us but that it will lead to more people coming to know Jesus.
  3. Finally (and dare I say more importantly) pray today for the Rod Williams outreach Real Deal event on Saturday night at 5pm. Pray for opportunities to invite people along (I attach the invite but still lots at church if you can pick some up). Pray that many will come and many will give their lives to Jesus. Pray for Sunday morning that many of those connected to holiday club will come along, as well as those who joined us at the Bunkfest tent and service,  and that we will have enough boldness to invite the people we know to church this week.
  4. Then join us for our breakthrough praise on Sunday evening at 7pm as we believe it is as we praise the Lord we will see more and more of His kingdom and will be done in our lives, our town and our country.

So hopefully see you Saturday night at South Moreton Boxing club with your friends or on Sunday.
Warmly in Jesus
